  1. Laggan Stores has just closed down. remember to stock-up in Spean Bridge and Newtonmore. Check the wolftrax cafe near Laggan for further amenities.

  2. Totally gutted to hear that Laggen stores has closed. Used it when we walked the EHW Sept 2011, absolutely cracking little store. Here is hoping it will open again soon.

  3. I have a struture that might be of interest although I don't know how to send the image. Essentially it is a square based hanging tipi with four sides that can hang from an older tree with guidlines down to the ground. Let me know if an image is needed as I happen to have one.

    1. Hi. Glen banchor may be the only point which is problematic. You may want to take the identified glen truim route as an alternative.

    2. I, too, am setting out on the EHW 2 weeks from today (17/03/13), but on foot. I have noticed that Scotland has enjoyed a lot of dry weather recently. Is Glen Banchor likely to be a problem for us and do you have access to a weather prognosis for the next 3 weeks?

    3. Glen Banchor should be fine. There are a couple of stream crossings and some boggy ground. Follow the river and you'll be fine. Would check weather websites closer to the time. No midges at least! Kev

    4. Have just finished walking the EHW over 5 days. Is there anywhere on this site where a review of the walk would be published?

  5. Are the sections around about Laggan do-able on horses? We will be based there for a few days and could do one-way routes north and south if there are no walls or fences to climb over!

    1. Hi Jill,
Its possible to head south-west from Laggan Village through to explore the Pictish Fort and Wolftrax café. You can also visit the falls of Pattack just beyond although a short section of road may prove tricky. Glen Banchor to the North/east may be more problematic with fences etc around balgowan/cluny. Might be worth exploring the routes to the west of the Spey Dam...along the corrieyairack pass. Have fun.

  8. There's a new cafe at Laggan Wolfrax.
The Laggan Wolftrax Cafe opened Easter 2015 and offers hot and cold food, fantastic home baking, great coffee and cold drinks and ice cream.
    Showers and toilets available too.
